This Trio of paintings get to go live in New Zealand. They were sold in a recent Aritsts' Guild of San Francisco Show when we were set up in Union Square. I had a great time talking to the couple that purchased them. They picked out a nice selection.

A new direction?

"Duet"
I have been playing around on paper to see what will next inspire me. This painting is 15x11 inches and was inspired from playing with abstract shapes. It has some elements of an earlier series I was working on several years ago. I like the flow of abstract shapes into the suggestion of instruments. We shall see what might develop from it.

Two Musical Paintings

"Piano Party"

"Take me to the Moon"

Each Painting is 8x8x1.5 inches

These two paintings which were painted to compliment each other are about the celebration of music. I love to play with how the shapes of instruments and faces intertwining. One idea builds upon the last as I continue to explore variations on successful compositions.
Here is a Video link to Al Mayberry talking about these paintings. Video. The setting is outside of our home in Stinson Beach California. How does it get any better?

Camouflage Insights

Camouflage Insights
7x5x1.5 inches
$175
I went to the Medicine Cards by Jamie Sams and David Carson to look up the meaning of fox to garner fuel to title this painting. Fox means camouflage and this is part of my shared vision series. Perfect as one of the faces is hiding behind greenery. So how often do you camouflage your incredible insights? Below is the description for Fox in the Medicine cards book.
"Fox has the ability to meld into its surroundings and be un-noticed; it is a powerful gift when one is observing the activities of others. Fox medicine means adaptability cunning, observation, integration, swiftness of thought and actions, quick decisiveness in the physical world.
Observe undetected without making others self conscious. Concern for family safety, if fox share its medicine with you is to become like the wind, there but unseen. It is wise to observe the acts of others. Learn to camouflage yourself with your surroundings. Leave and come back for practice. You can use silly tactics as a camouflage.
Reverse: Watch out for Wiley fox. Do not practice camouflage to the extent that you become a wall flower. Contrary fox may be trying to tell you that you have become too invisible in climbing to a place of recognition. Become fox and enjoy the playing ground of your life."
by David Carson and Jamie Sams
This piece is painted on 1.5 inch wood panel with painted sides with acrylic and acrylic mediums to give it a deep textural effect. This painting is wired and ready to hang or because it is 1.5" thick it will be stable standing on a shelf or table. A busy day of Celebration

The Artists' Guild of San Francisco had it's 50th year celebration on Saturday Sept 10th 2011. The Artists' Guild website.
Many artists & supporters of fine art worked hard to get this event together, they did a good job. It was a lot of fun with bands, free art, wine tasting, important people speaking and goofy MC's!

We had a great time.

Here I am on the right with the winner of the original art that I contributed to our Free Drawing

I also have some new collectors from the 2 shows we had in Union Square this week.

More Musical Squares

It has been a busy summer with deck repairs, residing painting, lots of art shows and working on the Artists' Guild of San Francisco's upcoming 50th year anniversary. I am managing to do a few paintings and these are the two newest of the music series. Both 6x6x1.5 inches. Fun to hold and look at with lots of detail. I will be working on some larger paintings for a few weeks, but hope to fit in a few small ones.

If you are interested in purchasing either of these visit Daily Paintworks Gallery to see if they are still available.
